This person has clearly never met a Jew in their life.

The Holocaust is something we discuss all the time and which still affects us. I have older family still searching for relatives whose fates are yet unknown, who we may never find out what happened to them. I have a tiny family, a family who can have a reunion comfortably in a single room, something that can never be rebuilt. And the danger isn’t over in Europe, nor elsewhere. The Jobbik party in Hungary are quickly rising to power… on the age-old proposition that Jews are ‘invading’ the their race/people and ‘poisoning’ it, on all sorts of anti-semitic cannards. The world is poised for another mass genocide towards Jews…. But people like to write that off and pretend it’s not happening. 

Also, being ‘given’ a country is the most patronizing fucking shit. Israel was the land of Arabs and Jews before fucking people who didn’t belong there invaded and stirred up a bunch of shit, leading to fighting between people who’d once been allies for generation and generation. 

Nor does America always consider jews white (I like how this post also acts like America is the whole world). America whitewashes Jews when it suits them, and treats us as a foreign body when that suits them. America supports Israel because right now it hates Muslims more than Jews. When the tables turn, that support can just as quickly evaporate. In a sense, we’re placed on a hierarchy. America likes to hold up Asian Americans as a “model minority” and use that to silence other POC, but that doesn’t mean the US isn’t racist against Asian people- it still is, and using them to silence other minorities is in fact a sign of how the US sees them as less than. Ditto for treatment of Jews. 

Edited to add: If you havent ever heard Jews otherwise talk about the Holocaust, it doesn’t mean we’re not affected by it. It means we can spot an anti-semite when we see one, and we don’t trust you enough to open up to you about private matters.

Getting really tired of “the world is America” shit.

Even white-skinned Jews are racialized as not white/ethnic Other in most places in the world. The exceptions are North America, and even that is not true across the board.

Obviously, being able to pass as white is a HUGE privilege, as is being light-skinned. Colourism is a thing. But, anti-Semitism actually IS considered racism, but is a form of racism based on ETHNIC DESCENT and NOT on colour, and so functions differently from the almost exclusively colour-based racism so prevalent in the USA.

In the parts of the USA where white-skinned Jews can assimilate into whiteness, this whiteness is shaky and provisional at best. It can be revoked at a moment’s notice, for any reason or no reason at all. Such a thing is literally impossible for ACTUALLY WHITE PEOPLE, like the Irish, Germans, Polish, or English. Jews are still actively discriminated against for jobs, in the government, etc. that it isn’t the same rate as visible PoC makes them more privileged, for sure, but it doesn’t mean the discrimination doesn’t exist. Jews fit the model minority niche, and get the benefits and privileges for doing so; but it’s simply not accurate to label all white-passing Jews “white” and call it a day when that is simply not the experience of a vast many of that population both within the USA, and across the globe, though it is the experience of SOME.

As for the Holocaust, or more specifically, the Shoah: stop blaming Jews for when asshole goyim hijack our narrative. It is a very common for white gentiles to bring up the Holocaust as a silencing tactic to get PoC to shut up about their oppression. Why are you blaming JEWS for that? That some Jews also do that is nasty and horrible, but, and I obviously can only speak from my own experience on this point, but the ones I most often see guilty of this crime far more often are white Christian gentiles. Not Jews. The portrayal of the Holocaust is decided by the elites in charge, by the Allied forces who are THE BIG HEROES WHO STOPPED HITLER, rather than the racist white assholes who deliberately turned Jews away and entire shiploads of refugees because Jews were too dirty and not white enough and they didn’t want them polluting their country.

Jews are not responsible for outsider characterizations of the Holocaust that benefit the hegemony. And to say that mass genocide that decimated well over 1/3 of the entire Jewish worldwide population (yeah, the Shoah affected Ashkenazim, Sephardim, and Mizrahim, not just “white Jews”) does not leave serious inter-generational trauma and lasting affects is to be ignorant of the nature of genocide, full stop.

And as for “they got Israel for it” - NO. No. To say this betrays a fundamental misunderstanding of the Middle East and Israel-Palestine. This post explains quite well (and succinctly) the racist ethnic-cleansing motivations of Europe, even post-Holocaust, in getting rid of all the remaining Jews left alive within their borders. This statement also betrays a fundamental misunderstanding of British colonial/imperial tactics, and their deliberate playing off of local groups against each other in order to maintain power/a hold in the region to “sort things out.” (and thereby maintain power) This was a very common tactic in the British empire, and is a big part in the intractability of the conflict today.

Tl;dr, you are really ignorant about the Jewish people, the ethno-racial status of Jews as a polity, including pale ones, and Middle East, and you should probably stop talking.

This is exactly how you don’t do an analysis of race, ethnic, and religious relations especially with regard to Jews. 

This is actually anti-Semitic and erases the experience of a whole hell of a lot of Jewish people while simultaneously historicizing American race constructions back onto Europe (in addition to a myriad of other problems that I’m not addressing here).

I’ve seen this blog do decent work, but fuck this post and fuck this incredibly shit analysis. This is one example of why you don’t trust goyim to give a good reading of history if Jews are involved.

This kind of shit is exactly why I stopped following that blog.
