Daily Writing Quote
Madeline Kahn in High Anxiety, 1977.
You know why it pisses me off personally when non-natives dress up as ndns? Why I personally feel like putting on a war bonet or feathers and lip-stick face paint aint alright? because when I, A native American male, so much as wear my braids out in public, I get laughed at. In my face. I get called “Pocahontas”. I am not respected as a person, but laughed at. Mocked. Demeaned. If I show pride in my culture, not only am i no longer treated as a man, I am no longer treated as a human being. But you non-natives get to play ndn and keep your respect and humanity in the eyes of your peers. That is not equity. That is not human equality.
